Singing for fun

MONDAY 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

The group does exactly what it says – sing for fun! It’s not a choir and there is a cost of £2 per session to cover music costs and other expenses.

The group started over 10 years ago and Shirley who is part of ‘Foresight’ is our leader. In the beginning we started out humbly with about 6 singers but now have approximately 22 singer when all in full attendance. We have been asked many times to sing for other groups of people in the community and we try our very best to please.

We are always looking for new people who want to sing just because they simply love singing. We have a break half way through for a drink and a chat, you might even win a cake in the raffle! Come along and gives us a try.

Put on some comfortable shoes and join us for healthy walks! All walks last between 30 and 75 minutes and are lead by Walking for Health trained leaders, at a range of pace for all abilities, and end with a social gathering.

Because the Leaders are volunteers there is no charge, but donations towards refreshments after walks are used to offset costs of coach trips, social events and activities. Dogs are not allowed on walks, and children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

Little Coates Art Group

TUESDAY 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.

The Little Coates Art Group began life as an adult education class at Western Technology School. When the school closed in 2008, we still wanted to stay together to continue our efforts and set up in St. Michael’s Church. We named ourselves “The Little Coates Art Group” and have been painting there ever since. The group works in a variety of media in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with our tutor, Keith.

We treat our meetings as a time for instruction, relaxation and socialisation (the atmosphere is always very relaxed). We tend to bring our own materials as we work in many different media but have a small stock of equipment for new-comers and those wanting to try something different.

Membership is £30 for a block of 10 weeks. There is usually a week’s break around school holiday time. All levels of ability are welcome, just bring along paper and pencils to get started.
